Prices of Facebook stock since long-awaited IPO

Facebook's stock fell 8.5 percent during the regular session Thursday, then dropped further in extended trading after the company reported quarterly earnings for the first time as a public company.

The stock has been up on 20 trading days and down on 28 since its initial public offering.

Facebook began trading publicly in mid-May following one of the most anticipated stock offerings in history. The IPO priced at $38, at the top of a projected range that Facebook had already boosted just days earlier.

Although many investors had hoped for a big first-day pop, Facebook's stock opened on May 18 at $42.05 and fluctuated between $45 and $38 throughout the day. It closed barely above its IPO price, at $38.23.

The stock had fallen sharply in the weeks following the IPO, going as low as $25.52.

Investors have been concerned about its ability to keep increasing revenue and make money from its growing mobile audience, though many analysts hold positive long-term opinions.

The company, along with the investment banks that led the IPO, is the subject of dozens of shareholder lawsuits. They allege that analysts at the large underwriting investment banks cut their financial forecasts for Facebook just before the IPO and told only a handful of clients. Facebook and the banks overseeing the IPO insist that nothing about its IPO process was illegal or even out of the ordinary.

Nick Diaz Update: Will Return, Wants Anderson Silva

Like a passing case of the munchies, UFC welterweight contender Nick Diaz's plans to retire seem to have faded, and taking the place of that retirement is a burning desire to face UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.? All this is according to his longtime coach, Cesar Gracie, who posted a lengthy statement on the matter over at GracieFighter.

It was only just February when Diaz purportedly turned his back on the sport, a move prompted by his controversial unanimous decision loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 143.??The defeat?came?after a five-round scrap for the UFC Interim Welterweight Championship title, and the bout?saw Condit playing "hit and run" while the Stockton native followed him around and?hurled insults.? Soon after,?it was revealed that?Diaz had tested positive for?marijuana metabolites in a post-fight urinalysis, and the subsequent year-long suspension levied upon him appeared to be the icing on the retirement cake.

Said Gracie:

For the last couple months I've watched Nick begin to frequent the gym more and more.? He's training harder now than he has for many of his fights.? It was obvious that training and fighting is in his DNA.? It is who he is.

This week we had a great talk and he made it clear to me that he is ready to get back in the cage.? Nick Diaz will return.

With interim champ Condit destined to face UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre at UFC 154 in November, who is there for Diaz - an elite,?top-level fighter -?to face that's worthwhile?

As far as future opponents, Nick has stated that he would like to take fights "that matter".? Since GSP will be fighting Condit, he has to look elsewhere.? He will respectfully ask for a fight with Anderson Silva, a fighter he respects and would like to challenge.

Silva's camp has been speaking of a fight with GSP, possibly even at a catchweight.? Nick will take that fight in a minute but has told me that should Silva decide not to drop at all, he will move up to 185lbs to face the Champ.

And there you have it.? Unfortunately, unless Diaz (or, more aptly, his attorneys) can figure out a way around his suspension, ain't nothin' going down 'till February, 2013.? Remember kids, dope is for dopes.? Don't be a dope!

Shes A Tornado expected to win Bernard Barry Bookmaker A1 Quck Result Semi-Final

For the ace title of the high-profile race of Bernard Barry Bookmaker A1 Quck Result Semi-Final, the P. Hennessy trained black bitch, Shes A Tornado, looks to be the strongest candidate who will be able to notch up top spot in the A1 race convincingly here at Shelbourne Park on Wednesday night, July 25.

After breaking from the black box, the three-year-old veteran hound will run against five worthy rivals on the flat track of 525 yards. On winning, she will be awarded ?100.

The brilliant bitch has been doing well since the dawn of the calendar year. In the month of March alone, she marvellously won four OR races in a row----three at Shelbourne Park and one at Cork.

The talented daughter of Droopys Scolari out of Forest Holly moved ahead to get a runner-up rank in another OR race on May 26. She accomplished a grand victory in the Heat 2 on June 2.

The skilled sprinter nicely finished second in each of her last two starts. Overall, she has a number of iconic feats to her name. Throughout her career, she has been a consistent performer. She has hardly disappointed the bookmakers who use to stake their money on her success.

Thus, it is expected that Shes A Tornado will take no time to outperform her rivals in tonight?s marathon. The only threat she may face is Riverside Cashen who is awash with confidence after winning a GR race at Limerick on June 8.

Following this tremendous triumph, the G. Holland trained black dog finished 3rd in each of the two subsequent starts. Earlier during March-April, the novice runner grabbed two victories and two runner-up positions in a row.

However, the son of Cashen Legend out of Riverside Trixie has never run any A1 race so far. Moreover, he is going to make debut at Shelbourne Park tonight. This can prove to be disadvantageous for him, but he is likely to overcome this fault line with his abilities.

Thus, Riverside Cashen and Shes A Tornado will fight neck-to-neck tonight----the latter has higher chances to win. Good luck to the duo.

Khartoum court accuses U.S. resident of terrorism

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - A Sudanese court on Wednesday charged two men including a U.S. resident of forming a terrorist organization, in the first trial of people arrested during a spate of anti-government protests that broke out more than a month ago.

Security forces arrested Radwan Daoud, whose origins are in Sudan's western Darfur region, and Ahmed Ali Mahjoub about two weeks ago at a house in a Khartoum suburb.

Daoud has legal permanent resident status in the United States, according to the U.S. embassy in Sudan.

Sudanese authorities said they found political materials calling for demonstrations and regime change in the house.

In the first session of their trial, the two were charged with "forming a terrorist organization, working to change the regime by force, criminal conspiracy, criminal participation and inciting unrest", defense lawyer Muatasim Taj El-Ser said.

The crimes carry sentences of up to 10 years in prison, he said. The judge dismissed charges against 10 other people and ordered their release.

Sudan avoided the wave of popular protests that unseated rulers in neighboring Libya and Egypt last year, but austerity measures aimed at containing an economic crisis led to small demonstrations calling for President Omar Hassan al-Bashir's government to resign.

Activists led by students have sought to use public anger over rising food prices to build a broader movement to topple the government.

Sudanese activists estimate that as many as 2,000 people have been arrested since the protests broke out in June, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International said in a joint report this month.

The crisis is rooted largely in the secession of oil-producing South Sudan a year ago. The new nation took about three-quarters of Sudan's crude output, leaving Sudan with a budget gap, high inflation and a depreciating currency.

The two sides are meeting in Addis Ababa to discuss issues including how much the landlocked South should pay to export oil through pipelines and other infrastructure in Sudan - fees which could ease Sudan's crisis - but have so far failed to agree.

My Favorite Games For My Retired Consoles - GIDan Blog - www ...

In 1988, the four year-old version of me received his first video game console. I cut my teeth on the Nintendo Entertainment System, which kicked off a lifelong obsession with the medium. I've owned 16 different gaming consoles throughout the years, with the only semi-well-known consoles that I never purchased being Saturn, 3DO, Virtual Boy, and Jaguar. Some of my consoles broke down because I played them so much, while others were lucky if they ever got powered on. I decided to go through my gaming history and single out my favorite game for each system, along with some runners-up. Read on to see the highlights of each console, along with some personal stories about my experience with them.

Note: I'm not counting current-gen systems in this list. I'm including the Wii because there aren't any new releases coming out in the future that I plan on buying.

NES: Super Mario Bros. 3

Like many others around my age, my earliest gaming memory was playing the original Super Mario Bros. on NES. While that game blew my mind and its underrated sequel also rates among my favorites, it was the third entry in the series that stands as my favorite NES title. It opened up the world with a map screen that featured multiple paths. Awesome new power-ups like the raccoon, frog, and hammer suits shook up the level-to-level gameplay. Instead of one repeating Bowser fight, we were treated to seven unique battles against his Koopaling children, along with numerous mini-boss fights and the final (nerve-wracking) confrontation with the big baddie himself.?To see just how much the final stages wreck me, be sure to check out the insanely-intense fourth (and final) episode of our Super Replay of the game.

Runners-up: Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Contra, The Legend of Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Baseball Stars

?

Genesis: Mortal Kombat II

I don't remember much from third grade, but I have a vivid memory of going to a gas station after school one day and seeing Mortal Kombat for the first time. Two high schoolers were showing each other fatalities, and I got my first glimpse of the series' trademark over-the-top violence. During recess the next day, I remember running around the playground, breathlessly regaling classmates about the game that lets you punch a dude's head off, tear out his heart, or take off a mask to reveal a freaky skeleton face. None of them seemed as excited as me, but it was all I could think about. News of a sequel came out, and I remember impatiently waiting outside the arcade before its first day on display. Mortal Kombat II didn't disappoint.?It featured more fighters, more fatalities, goofy Friendship and Babality finishers, and (most importantly) better gameplay. Everything that made the game great translated well to the Genesis version, which I sunk more hours into than anything else on the system.

Runners-up:?Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 3, NBA Jam, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Vectorman, WWF Raw

?

Super Nintendo: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

If you're a regular viewer of Replay, you know that A Link to the Past isn't just my favorite Super Nintendo game, it's my favorite game of all time. For our 25th anniversary of Zelda celebration in the magazine, I wrote an article dedicated to my love of Link's third adventure. I'll direct you to that link for the majority of my gushing over the game, but it obviously also deserves a spot on this list. On a system with no shortage of classics, A Link to the Past manages to stand above all of them.

Runners-up:?Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi?s Island, Street Fighter II, Mega Man X, Star Fox,?Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball,?Super Mario RPG

Game Boy/Game Boy Color: Tetris

It's Tetris. What do you want?

Runners-up: The Legend of Zelda: Link?s Awakening, Donkey Kong, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario Land 2, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons
