It has been a life-long debate. Should people be relying on what the GPA dictates? Does it guarantee good life ahead? Is it not a form of discrimination to say so? Whatever your stand on this matter, one fact remains true these days ? which your college diploma will give you more opportunities and that your GPA will earn you better jobs. Students from around the globe have truly been keen on this fact. They calculate GPA and maintain good class standing. There are certain occasions where GPA truly counts. This is not, however, to underestimate the power of hard work, competitiveness and commitment.
Reality is; the job market of today has a pre-set standard or better known as the GPA cutoff. Keeping a good GPA is undeniably pivotal to one?s success. Although it does not necessarily mean a ?guaranteed? brilliant future, it shows that the person has a sheer determination to stay competitive and committed. These are essential qualities when embarking on a good career. To calculate GPA does not mean to calculate a good future. It simply means to understand how rough and tough the professional world is. Slacking off during college could easily hurt your chances of entering a good company no matter how skillful you are. You may argue that certain college dropouts are amongst today?s billionaire. That?s true however, it is essential to note that they may be college dropouts but it they had continued their studies they would have ended at their school?s list of top students.
You may question the equality in top companies. Although most of them require stellar college GPA, those with average GPA can still land good jobs with much lesser chances. Employers are of course aware of the standards of certain schools and are most likely confident in job applicants from those schools. Another apparent advantage of having an outstanding GPA is that many of these students are no longer required to work on probationary terms. And sometimes, they are allowed to skip internships as well. From fresh graduates to regular employees, this is the shortest way to establish one?s career immediately.
Having an average college GPA should not discourage anyone. It should be seen as an opportunity to highlight other strengths. In the Business sector, companies are rather keen on the individual grades earned during the scholarly years. If you have good marks on your major subjects then do not forget to put extra effort in highlighting them.
