Martha "Marti" J. Hartenstein, 58, of Ft. Myers died Thursday September 6, 2012 at Lee Memorials Health Park Hospital following a long courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Natick, MA, in 1954 to the late Francis and Ethelyn Hartenstein. Martha moved to Lee County in 1967 from MA. She graduated from Cypress Lake High School in 1972. Martha retired from the City of Ft. Myers where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of VFW Post 8463 ladies Auxiliary in Cape Coral.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Ruth Culp.
Survivors include her step-mother Agnes Hartenstein of Ft. Myers, three brothers and their wives; Frank & Andi Hartenstein of NY, Fred & Michelle (Mace) Hartenstein of NH, and Richard & Kathy Hartenstein of NY., one step brother; Ron Bean of AZ, three step sisters; Andi Hartenstein of NY, Patty Floyd of Ft. Myers, and Dorothy Peterson of GA, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 PM Wednesday September 12, 2012 at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home in Ft. Myers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation @ www.komenswfl.org.
