The leader of a Messianic Jewish ministry says the growing pressure on Israel to succumb to demands for a Palestinian state may be part of a divine plan to force the Jewish state to depend on God instead of earthly governments for its survival.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently visited Italy and issued a joint statement with his Italian counterpart, Silvio Berlusconi, saying any just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be reached through negotiations between the two parties. Netanyahu reiterated that Palestinian plans to have the U.N. General Assembly recognize a Palestinian state will not advance the peace process.
"If such a resolution is backed by an overwhelming majority, including the leading countries of the world, that could actually push peace back by hardening Palestinian positions, by pushing negotiations further away," Netanyahu warned.
